Our goal is to take our thousands of hours of auction experience and help you apply it to win your auction draft.
Many websites will put out lists of Average Auction Values, or AAV's. This is similar to Average Draft Position, or ADP. While we have including some links to sites below that have AAV's, unlike ADP, they are much less predictive. In a snake draft, most drafts will follow fairly close to ADP. In auctions, however, this is not the case. The same group of people drafting in back-to-back draft auctions will most likely have totally difference prices. This means that AAV is best to determine the general consensus of how player values are stacked, as opposed to what they should bring in a draft auction. So, we recommend using AAV to build your own value tiers to use at your auction draft. Check out our Auction Budget page for more information on how to plan for setting up your best fantasy league team.
In order to have a successful auction draft, you need to be able to split players into value tiers in order to build a balanced team that can take you to your league championship. The simple way to do this, is to break players down from ADP, and place them into value tiers. A first round pick should be worth a certain price range, while a second round pick should be less. In reality, tiers can actually be much smaller or larger than an entire round of 10 to 16 players. The actual goal is to group players with similar values, so you can then in theory purchase the cheapest player in that group, leaving you more money to spend at other positions and/or roster spots. Below is a spreadsheet I create every year for my auction drafts, which gets changes sightly depending on the rules and scoring system of the leagues in which I have auction drafts.
